Before you go in
Sol y Sombra is a guide to tauromaquia: how a corrida works, its history, its vocabulary, its toreros and the arguments about it.
It describes events that many people find upsetting, including the wounding and killing of bulls and the injuries and deaths of toreros. There are no graphic images, but the descriptions are plain and do not soften what happens.
These pages neither promote nor condemn tauromaquia. They're here for anyone curious to understand it, since most of what is written about it is only in Spanish, or is written to persuade. The arguments for and against are set out in their own section.
